About Us

Finance information that
works for real people

Plain Finance Talks was built on one idea: every Australian deserves access to clear, accurate financial information — regardless of their background, income, or first language.

"Plain talk. Real numbers. Better decisions."

Our Story

Why we built this

Australian personal finance is full of complexity — changing tax laws, superannuation rules, property regulations, and budget announcements that affect everyday decisions. Yet most of the information available is either too simplified to be useful, or too technical to be understood.

Plain Finance Talks was created by a qualified Australian accountant with expertise in personal finance, mortgages, and superannuation planning. The goal is simple: provide the kind of clear, accurate, numbers-backed content that we'd want to read ourselves.

We also publish in 中文 — because Australia's Chinese-speaking community deserves the same quality of financial information in their preferred language.

What We Stand For

Our principles

🎯
Accuracy first
Every calculator uses real ATO tax brackets, actual CPI data, and current legislation. When something is an estimate, we say so clearly.
🗣️
Plain language
We translate tax legislation and budget announcements into language a smart 16-year-old could understand. No unnecessary jargon, ever.
🌏
Bilingual by design
All major tools and guides are available in English and 中文. Our Chinese-language content is written natively, not translated by machine.
🔓
Free and independent
Our tools are free to use. We are not owned by a bank, insurer, or financial product provider. Where we earn referral income, we disclose it clearly.
Current and updated
We update our content when laws change. Budget night, new ATO rulings, RBA rate changes — we cover what matters when it matters.
⚖️
Honest about limits
We are educators, not advisers. We are clear about what our tools can and cannot do, and always recommend professional advice for important decisions.

The 2026–27 Budget CGT reforms have not yet passed Parliament. All content relating to these proposed changes is based on Government announcements and may change.

Always consult a registered tax agent, financial adviser, or accountant for advice specific to your situation.
